Her Story
A proud Texas surfer, Julie grew up learning to surf small waves in Galveston and Surfside Beach. She modeled for various surf companies. Her favorite days were spent surfing with her gaggle of girl friends beneath the hot Texas sun. After college, she became one of the first female reporters in the surf industry (2009-2016), championing the exposure of female professional athletes. She covered the World Tour of Surfing for nearly 7.5 years, which entailed traveling and exclusive interviews with professional athletes like Bruce Irons and Carissa Moore. She has been featured in various online publications or collaborated with them, e.g., Examiner.com, TheSurfChannel.com, Surfline.com, The Inertia, SURFER magazine, Grind Media, and the World Surf League (WSL). In 2016, she obtained her MSc from the University of Oxford. A boy mom and Christian, Julie now resides near Houston, Texas, with her longhorn rancher husband, Josh, where she remains an advocate for female surfers. She never thought she would end up on a farm in North Louisiana handfeeding longhorns or that her first attempt at a book would be a children's book. Inspired by faith, family, and nature, storytelling like surfing is another way to share joy and purpose.
